Description

The Harlequin is a well-known and much-admired building in a historic part of Lincoln, and we were honoured to work on its refurbishment which has restored the Tudor building to its former glory, making ready for a new chapter in its history.

The building is as stunning on the inside as the outside and its sympathetic restoration captures its heritage perfectly.

Gelder Ltd worked closely with City of Lincoln Council and Lincoln Heritage to carry out various external repairs. A full scaffold design and footpath closure was required to reach all areas of the building where the works were to take place.

Once the scaffold was erected a meeting was held with Lincoln Heritage and the Council to identify what works were required and to agree our method of work.

Works agreed were to repair some of the rotten timber frame supports, cast iron gutter repairs, various patch repairs using a traditional lime plaster method, traditional handmade glazing repairs and full redecoration to all elevations in colours that Lincoln Heritage had researched and believed it was painted back in the 18th century.

Works Included:

  • Lime plaster repairs
  • Timber frame replacement
  • Cast iron gutter repairs
  • Traditional handmade glazing
