The £1.7m project to refurbish the historic Gibney building at Lincoln College was complete in September 2021. The work included renovating classrooms for the Hair & Beauty Department, creating a sensory room and breakout rooms, and several labs for IT, Electrical Engineering and Networking. The Grade II listed building works commenced in February 2021 and now house cutting-edge equipment including virtual reality, 3D printing and laser cutting, robotics equipment for electrical engineering and new electric cars within automotive areas. The refurbishment will mean Lincoln College can ensure their students have access to the latest equipment and facilities to give the students the best possible advantage in the job market.

We’re delighted with the quality of this fantastic new facility for our students and the community. This state-of-the-art asset, which was funded by the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership, central government and ourselves is helping is to deliver new higher qualifications in electrical engineering, digital and electric vehicle technologies as part of the Institute of Technology and training for priority sectors as part of the Professional Skills Centre. The ground-floor of this beautiful historic building is also now home to a modern, progressive Business Centre that provides office, meeting and co-working space facilities for local businesses.
