Description
The Maternity Wing at Lincoln County Hospital had been the same since the 1970’s and was in desperate need of updating. Gelder Ltd took on this project and helped United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust achieve their objective to provide a full refurbishment and modernisation of the facilities. Continuity of service to patients was paramount to our client and with this in mind the whole ward was relocated to the floor above. This involved some out of hours and weekend working to minimise the disruption to the nursing staff and patients. During the course of the project, additional works were identified as asbestos was found within the floors and ceilings. Our project team worked closely with our client to manage the process of testing and removing the asbestos safely.
Due to the age of the building there were many additional items that were added to the original contract. The flexible approach of our project team, along with their wealth of experience in handling changes to the programme, ensured that we were able to accommodate these changes and keep our client regularly updated with any cost implications and the progress of the works.
