Gelder Group Welcomes Abbey Access Training Learners to Carholme Road Site

January 12, 2026  1:55 pm

Gelder Group was pleased to welcome learners from Abbey Access Training to its Carholme Road development site, providing them with the opportunity to see a live construction project in its early stages.

The visit gave learners valuable, first-hand insight into how construction sites are managed, the sequencing of works, and some of the practical challenges that can arise during delivery. As many of the learners will pass the site regularly throughout the project, seeing the development from its earliest phase offered a unique learning experience and a clearer understanding of how projects evolve over time.

Engagements such as this also support wider discussions around career pathways within the construction sector, helping learners to better understand the wide range of roles involved in delivering a successful project, both on site and behind the scenes.

Abbey Access Training commented on the value of the visit, stating:

We’d like to thank you for arranging this opportunity for our learners to attend the site and see the early stages of a project they will likely pass by many times over the course of the project. Being able to attend actual work sites gives a great insight to the learners on how they run, some of the issues that can present themselves, and provides a great opportunity to discuss routes within construction and the different roles needed in projects.

Gelder Group is committed to supporting education, skills development, and future careers within the construction industry. By opening its sites to local training providers and learners, the Group continues to demonstrate its commitment to social value and strengthening links between industry and education.
