Gelder Group received a fantastic response from Lincoln College students after one of its Haunted Walk characters paid a special visit to recruit volunteers for this year’s Halloween event. The character swapped the haunted forest for the college stage to meet drama students and invite them to put their performance skills to the test as part of the popular annual Haunted Walk, which returns to Gelder Group’s Sturton by Stow headquarters from 28–30 October. The response exceeded all expectations, with Gelder Group overwhelmed by the number of students keen to volunteer and help bring this year’s terrifying experience to life.
The students will join Gelder Group employees and other volunteers in becoming some of the characters visitors will encounter as they make their way through the transformed woodland.
Dawn Brumpton, who is helping organise the event, said:
We went along hoping that some of the drama students might be interested in getting involved, but the response was absolutely incredible. We were overwhelmed by how many wanted to volunteer.
The Haunted Walk relies heavily on people being prepared to give up their time and really throw themselves into their characters, so having enthusiastic drama students involved is fantastic. Judging by the reaction we had at Lincoln College, I think our visitors are in for quite an experience this year!
Now in its third year, the Gelder Group Haunted Walk has become a popular fixture in the local Halloween calendar, with the woodland surrounding the company’s headquarters transformed for three nights of scares, characters and surprises.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to St Barnabas Hospice and the Gelder Charitable Trust.

The Haunted Walk takes place on 28, 29 and 30 October 2026 at Gelder Group, Tillbridge Lane, Sturton by Stow, Lincoln.
