To coincide with the Scampton Airshow this years annual staff party was held on the 9th September. At the event over 150 staff and family from Gelder Group enjoyed watching the aerial displays from the airshow as well as the games and events that were organised on site. While the weather remained dry for the most part, chaos descended when the hunt for the ‘Golden Egg’ was launched to win an iPad Mini during a downpour, but despite the weather everyone hunted through the 16 acre park and the Egg was eventually found by Emma Martin.
The misty start to the morning did nothing to dampen the spirits of the 13 fishers who entered the ‘What a Whopper! Charity fishing competition. The event was held at the Gelder Group’s Head Office lake on the 27th September and was in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity.
The one acre lake is stocked with a variety of fish including roach, rudd, ade, mirror carp and ghost carp. The largest haul on the day was caught by Simon Blaydes with a total catch of 9lb 14oz.
On the day Simon commented:
I was of course thrilled to win on the day, but the real winner is the Charity we were raising money for; The Brain Tumour Charity.
The weather was shining on the 10th July for the annual Streets Accountants golf day at Lincoln Golf Club. The Maintenance team entered a seasoned team of players which included Gary Rousseau, Shaun Cass, James Flintham and Paul Staines who individually and as a team managed to win several prizes on the day. Paul and Gary out-played the golf pro to win a set of Pro V1’s. James, Shaun and Paul won 2nd, 3rd and 4th places respectively in the individual tournament and overall the team collected the top prize on the day with an unbelievable score of 94.
On the win the Construction Director Dave Gladwin commented:
I’m so please with the teams achievement, we’ll look forward to defending the title next year.
Well played, guys!
Around 80 people braved what must have been the wettest weekend of 2015 to take part in the 12th annual Gelder Camp.
It rained constantly from 9pm on the Friday evening until Sunday morning, but this did not dampen any spirits with all the normal activities taking place, including football, treasure hunting, British bulldogs, bike rides, rounders, BBQ and bingo. Everyone had a fantastic time and despite the weather, it was a fabulous weekend.
