Description
The original brief was to address the issues of water penetration to the roof and basements. This involved installation of a full “umbrella scaffold” above 6 properties, as the occupants were to remain in the top floor apartments. The basement apartments were stripped back to the bare shell and a full tanking system installed. The basement occupants were decanted into temporary accommodation.
Once the roof coverings had been removed, it became apparent there were major structural issues with the rotten timber and their supporting wall plates. We removed all timber rafters and joists and also took down dividing parapet walls and chimneys, as these were found to be unsafe.
The removal of the plaster to the basement walls opened up further structural issues with lintels, walls, ceilings and rafters. All wall and ceiling coverings had to be removed to bare stonework and timbers, made structurally sound in line with the engineer’s recommendations and reinstated accordingly.
