Description

Turning Vision into Reality

The Glebe Park Surgery at the Carlton Centre in Lincoln was driven by a clear community need: to provide a modern, accessible medical facility capable of serving thousands of patients across the local area.

As part of Lincolnshire Co-op and NHS Lincolnshire ICB’s wider commitment to enhancing primary care, this project required not just construction expertise but a collaborative, solutions-driven approach. Gelder Group delivered this complex transformation, converting a former retail unit into a fully equipped, purpose-built surgery, successfully handing over the development on time and within budget.

Points to Consider

Converting a retail unit into a fully operational medical facility presented unique challenges. Our team addressed three key areas with skill and determination:

Urban Location.

The site’s location within a busy retail park required detailed logistics planning to minimise disruption for neighbouring businesses and ensure smooth access for construction deliveries.

Healthcare Compliance.

Meeting NHS standards for patient safety, accessibility, and clinical functionality required close coordination with stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and the surgery team.

Tight Programme.

The project was delivered within a 30-week schedule, demanding careful planning and proactive problem-solving to maintain quality while achieving on-time completion.

Solutions & Technical Specifications

Gelder Group delivered a modern medical facility designed to improve patient care and operational efficiency. Key solutions included:

Maximised Clinical Space.

The new surgery triples the available area, providing eight consulting rooms, modern staff facilities, and dedicated patient parking.

Accessibility First.

The facility was designed to ensure full compliance with accessibility standards, including disabled access throughout the building.

High-Quality Fit-Out.

Use of timber cladding, upgraded windows and doors, and sustainable materials enhanced both aesthetics and energy efficiency.

Collaborative Delivery.

Close partnership with Core Architects, NHS Lincolnshire ICB, and Lincolnshire Co-op ensured regulatory compliance, smooth workflow, and timely delivery.
