Description
The project comprised of extensive alterations to the existing hospital building to provide a new lift & shaft, major refurbishment to the existing theatres together with a single storey extension in a traditional construction.
As with any hospital contract, a large proportion of the works included mechanical & electrical installations. Again, planning & consultation with our client was essential, especially when having to work within ‘live’ areas of the hospital and carrying out service shutdowns for M&E connections.
During the course of the contract temporary operating theatres were brought onto site to release the existing theatres for refurbishment. The programming of this element of works was critical to ensure that the hospital’s operation programme was not disrupted.
Following the visit of the Health Care Commission, the newly refurbished theatres were handed back to our client which, in turn, released the final phase of the works which included the upgrading of the existing car park areas.
