Gelder Group’s founder and CEO (Pictured) has recently been made a City & Guilds fellow, the highest honour conferred by the Council of City & Guilds Institute.
FCGI is equivalent to Level 8 on the Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF), the same level as a PhD or professional Doctorate and is only awarded in recognition of outstanding professional and personal achievements.
Steve received an MBE on the 2007 Queens Honours List for ‘Services to Business and the community in Lincolnshire’ and The Prince Philip Medal in 2013 for (in the words of Prince Philip) ‘travelling the City & Guilds path’. Having started his working life as an apprentice bricklayer before going on to set up the Gelder Group in 1988.
On the award Steve comments ‘It is always nice to receive recognition but in reality it is on behalf of everyone at Gelder Group. We have such a good team who work so hard for our customers, support one another and consistently deliver on our Vision of ‘Inspiring a new Generation in Construction’.
Since 1988 the Gelder Group have trained over 300 apprentices. Every week around 100 children enjoy supervised activities at its head office environmental park and the company regularly opens its doors to students requiring work experience opportunities.
