Wild in the Woods – Half Term Fun

February 24, 2022  12:18 pm

During half Term Wild in the woods saw 70 children embrace the winter weather, connecting with nature in a beautiful site attending ‘Wriggle and Squelch’ sessions. They learnt about worms, mud and rain and made mini wormeries to take home and observe, measuring the worms before we settled them in their new homes! They also created rain gauges and water filters and tested the acidity of the lake water. Artwork was created applying mud with items from nature such as leaves, dried poppy heads and natural paintbrushes. Mud splat cookies with edible worms were cooked in the woodland oven and marshmallows were toasted and enjoyed over the fire along with a hot chocolate. The children loved getting muddy by making mud pies, aiming at the mud target and rolling down muddy banks. Families also enjoyed a quiet walk around the site and a spot of mindfulness by the tranquil lake watching the fish.

Gelder Group has now been home to Wild in the woods for 2 years educating children on wildlife and our environment.

Hello. Are you running any drop off sessions suitable for an 8 year old in the Easter holidays?
