Gelder Group has reinforced its ongoing commitment to social value and skills development through a recent work experience placement with Olivia Mae Folkard, who joined the business within the joinery team while working on the East Lindsey District Council contract. During her placement, Olivia gained hands-on exposure to the construction environment, supporting live project activity and developing an understanding of joinery processes and site-based working practices. The placement formed part of Gelder Group’s wider approach to embedding social value within all of its public sector contracts, ensuring local communities benefit directly from the work being delivered.
Reflecting on her experience, Olivia said:
I really enjoyed working with the guys at Gelder’s, they made me feel welcome and comfortable. I hope to work with them again in the future.
The East Lindsey District Council programme is one of many examples where Gelder Group actively integrates opportunities for skills development, education, and community engagement into its project delivery. By offering structured work experience placements, apprenticeships, and on-site learning opportunities, the company continues to open pathways into construction for young people and those exploring future careers in the industry.
Rob Sanderson, Senior Contracts Manager at Gelder Group commented:
Social value is not an add-on for us; it is embedded in how we deliver every project. Whether we are working with local authorities or private clients, we look for opportunities to introduce people to construction, build confidence, and support future skills development within the sector.
