Ben Worthington, a Procurement & Supply Administrator in our Insurance Department recently won the ‘Going for it’ Award which recognises young people that have excelled in employment. Ben started at Gelder Group on a work experience placement and was recruited as an apprentice, three years later and Ben is excelling and become an integral part of the Insurance Department managing the logistics of ordering materials for the entire Lincoln office department.
Ben’s Manager, Lee Wilkinson Branch Manager commented on the award:
Ben was very quiet when he first started in the department, it’s a very busy office and he took time to settle in and gain confidence. Today, he’s a different person; he has matured and grown so much. His latest trip to Australia alone shows how much he’s willing to step out of his comfort zone and embrace new challenges with confidence.
Presenting Ben’s Award was Scott Eley, SEND Employment Lead who said:
Ben has come a long way since the Lincoln YPLP site had secured an opportunity for him following lockdown, mastering a number of tasks, building his skills and developing his confidence. It was lovely to see the staff body come down into reception for the presentation and Ben spoke with genuine pride and gratitude for the opportunities he has been given at the company. Ben acknowledged that his confidence has grown to the point where he could speak in front of others, something he would not have been able to do a few years ago.
