Students at The Gainsborough Academy were given an insight into entrepreneurship, resilience and the construction industry when Steve Gelder visited the school to deliver a special assembly. Speaking to students about his own career journey, Steve shared how he built Gelder Group from a small local business into one of Lincolnshire’s leading construction companies. He spoke openly about the challenges he faced along the way, the importance of hard work and determination, and how developing the right attitude can create opportunities in any career path. During the assembly, students heard about the wide range of roles available within the construction industry, from apprenticeships and trade careers through to management, surveying, design and business support roles. Steve also encouraged students to believe in their abilities and to take every opportunity available to them during their education.
