Leif Davy, Contracts Manager, and Jack Bateman, Quantity Surveyor, represented Gelder Group during the radio segment, alongside Mark Taylor, Director of Development and Partnerships at Lincoln College. Together, they discussed the collaborative refurbishment project, its impact on the local community, and the role it plays in developing future talent in the hospitality industry.
Located in Lincoln, The Old Bakery stands out as the region’s only not-for-profit restaurant. All profits are reinvested into Lincoln and Newark Colleges, directly contributing to improved education and training opportunities for students. The restaurant also functions as a finishing school, offering advanced catering and front-of-house students invaluable, real-world experience in a high-end, live hospitality setting.
Leif Davy commented:
It’s been a pleasure working on a project that not only revitalises a local landmark, but also gives something back to the community by supporting young people on their educational journey.
Jake Bateman added:
Delivering a high-quality finish was key, especially as this space is designed to provide a real-world learning environment. We’re proud to support the next generation of hospitality professionals.
The refurbishment is part of a broader partnership between Gelder Group and Lincoln College, who share a commitment to investing in skills development and creating meaningful learning environments.
The newly refurbished Old Bakery is now open, continuing its legacy as a place where fine dining meets future learning.
