NEW flats, which are part of a £2.1 million redevelopment scheme, are on course to welcome their first residents in time for Christmas. A team from the Gelder Group said it is making good progress rebuilding a four-storey block of 11 flats at Charlston Terrace at Haven Village in Boston. The remains of the original block were ravaged by fire and the building left unsafe. This resulted in it being demolished and the site being cleared in 2022. The Sturton by Stow-based Gelder Group was awarded the contract by Nottingham-based JLL, and a 15-strong team is working on the flats which are managed by the Haven Village Management Company.
Site manager Jamie Cocks said:
We are delighted to report that the construction work is on program and we are looking forward to handing over the new block of flats in December. The one and two-bedroom homes have been built in a “like-for-like” way, in keeping with the original block, and they will be occupied by the building’s owners and new renters.
It is believed that the original fire, which led to the evacuation of more than a dozen people, was caused by discarded smoking materials. Thankfully, everyone escaped injury.
