Gelder Group Competes Against Itself at the LABC National Award Finals

Cartergate House, Grimsby
After scooping first prizes at the regional LABC East Midlands and LABC South Yorkshire Building Excellence Awards, Gelder Group will be competing against itself in the LABC National Award Finals. The event takes place on Friday 10th November at the Westminster Plaza, London.
Gelder Group workmanship on the re-development of Kenwick Spa & Leisure Centre complex at Louth following a devastating fire was voted the ‘Best Large Commercial Project’ by East Midlands building control officers. The company’s workmanship on Cartergate House in Grimsby secured first prize from South Yorkshire and Humber Building Control Officers, again for the category of ‘Best Large Commercial Project’.

Kenwick Spa & Leisure Complex
Project teams at Cartergate included ENGIE and CR Parrott. The project teams at Kenwick Park were LK2 Architects and the Kenwick Park Estate.
On the awards, Steve Gelder (Gelder Group CEO) commented:
I am absolutely thrilled, we’ve secured many LABC Awards in the past which is great as it’s fellow industry professionals recognising you, but we’ve never secured the same award in two regions before. They are both great projects so let’s hope we can be recognised nationally and promote the region at the same time.

We are delighted to announce that Gelder Group’s Major Contracts department have won the LABC Regional Awards for the Kenwick Park Spa project, along-side LK2 Architects. The Award means a place at the National Finals on the Friday 10 November 2017 in London and well-deserved recognition for the teams at Gelder Group who were responsible for delivering the project.
The LABC awards recognise some of the high quality work being carried out by our Building and Design teams, who focus their attention on the innovative solutions the Project teams have put in place. The professionalism of these teams with regards to building control considerations is what helps to produce safe, energy efficient, award winning construction projects.

Winning Development Project of the Year (up to £5 million) Award

The winners of the Development Project of the Year (up to £5 million) award.
For the first time, Lincolnshire celebrated its multimillion pound construction and property industry by launching a new set of industry awards. The Lincolnshire Construction and Properties award ceremony, hosted by Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce, was run to recognise, unite and champion the county’s leading construction and property businesses, and the dedicated people who work so hard behind the scenes.
Our Major Contracts division was delighted when it was announced that Kenwick Park Spa had won the Development Project of The Year (up to £5 million) award – sponsored by Andrew & Co Solicitors.
Cartergate also received a Highly Commended for Development Project of the Year (over £5 million).
This was the sector’s first award ceremony and it was a brilliant turnout. The awards ceremony has certainly paved the way for subsequent events, and we hope to be involved again. Well done to all the teams involved!

Kenwick Club Spa opens its doors

The Kenwick Park leisure spa and gym has been given an incredible new life after it was destroyed in an electrical blaze in 2014. The new facilities have been built on the site of the hotel’s former leisure centre, and have taken 14 months to complete. The spa includes a fitness suite, pools, treatment rooms and luxurious lounge areas with a project cost of £4.5million, and a lot of hard work transforming it into the new state-of-the-art Evergreen Spa.
